Microman 2005 Series

With another successful year for the new Microman Force series, Takara launched the follow up series dully called Microman 2005. The first series to debut for 2005 line, however, was nothing short of dull. TAKARA again brought back the much revered Magnemo series. Instead of the name Titan (the original Microman Magnemo line name), the 2005 Magnemo Microman series was called "Magne Force" probably as a nod to the recent attempt at Magnemo revival of the Magne Power line and to tie the series in with the "2004 Micro Force Series". The new 2005 Magnemo body however was nothing like the 1999 attempt, TAKARA has cleverly combined the Full Action style body with Magnemo-8 and Magnemo-11 features. The series even pay homage to the vintage line with celestial names such as Microman Phobos and Microman Icarus.

Unlike the 2004 line, TAKARA decided to commission new Microman manga serial that will tell the story of the Microman 2005. The new manga was published as monthly serial in Quanto magazine and replaced the CGI Photo Story series. While the Magne Force series contained both Microman and Acroyear side, TAKARA also have all Microman series called Road Spartan slate for summer, which will combined Microman with cycle theme. Acroyear would also get their own series called Acroyear EXO later in the year. The EXO will be a homage to the vintage 1975 President Acroyear and his Acroyear Navy Force. The year 2005 began poorly for TAKARA which again faced with another financial trouble so it was a very pleasant surprise to see Takara devoted still ample resources to the Microman line-up. So far with the Magne Force, it seem TAKARA will have another good year with Microman series.

TAKARA continues the popular Microman Micro Action Series for 2005 line up with diversify licenses from both movies and animes. The 2005 line-up started off with the much await Microman AVP line and continued on with another DC Comics Batman from the 2005 Batman Begins movie. For anime characters, this year TAKARA again looks into their own vault and produced Microman Chirico Cuvie from Votoms and Microman Goa Gai Gar including Guy, Mikoto and Swan. For Go Nagai fans, this year expect a Microlady Cutie Honey which to be sold with DVD box set. For the latter half of 2005, TAKARA plan to release Evangelion girls - Rei and Asaka in their civilian outfits. But the most anticipating release for Micro Action will surely be the Micro Action Scopedog in 1/18 scale to be used with Micro Action Chirico Cuvie. Votoms Scopedog will be the first play-set for Micro Action line.

Microman Material Force 2005 Series

Material Force was series of plain Microman and Microlady Full Action Body in mono-color that gear for custom and kit-bash collectors who like to design their own figures. Material Force line was sold exclusively at Toys R Us stores in Japan. Takara continued the popular Material Force series for the 2005 Microman line-up with the newly added Microlady Material Force. The packaging for 2005 Material Force used the more simple style single color box instead of the colorful box from the 2003-2004 series. Another unfortunate omission for the 2005 series was the lack of bio and background character story. Takara still gave them individual name and designation (even for the breast size variants of the Microlady series) but sadly there were no longer background story inserts. Perhaps Takara felt it was alright to cut cost by using the simple packaging and forego the background story since most of these figures were mainly used for custom projects.
