1980 Punch & Blizzard

1980 marked the last year of the original Microman line before the "reset". The theme for this year was the new Microman Blizzard and Microman Punch fighting the newly arrived villains, the Interstellar Emperor Death King, and his minions, the Death Marcks. Both Blizzard and Punch figures were very differences from the previous Microman figures not only in size but also in styles and designs. The main gimmicks for this year were magnet power toys and vibration motors.

Takara also released the remnants of last year Microman Rescue figures and vehicles. The two vehicles released were the Black Tiger Tank and the Rolling Thunder. Besides being harder to find these two vehicles were quite impressive. They both were had battery power motorized and very big. Both vehicles came with exclusive Rescue Microman figures both of which were not given any names, a sign of Takara decision to abandon the old series.

Toys of the line

Beside these two Rescue vehicles, Takara also released two large size robots - one was the new enemy Death King and the second one was another retooled of Robotman toy - the God Fighter Robotman. Both toys featured a definite changed in styles and designs from the 70's series.

Takara also released two smaller playset for Punch Microman Punch Robo and Punch Jet. Again, both of the designs were prelude to the upcoming New Microman series and the Diaclone line.

Microman History 1974-1980

In 1980 "catarog", Takara attempted to attract younger customers by recap all the Microman series from 1974 in an easy to follow and recognizable manga style look (as oppose to the usual story board-like style found in previous Microman catalogs).

Microman Blizzard

Microman Blizzards were Microman that escaped to Gauss Star after Micro Earth explosion. Microman Blizzard are encased in strong armor that can withstand the Super Plasma Ray blast from the Emperor Death King.

Microman Punch

Microman Punch bulky armors are to protect them from the super-weapon plasma ray that was being used by Interstellar Death King. The armor also gave them 100 times the strength of normal Microman.
